Neighborhoods / Clinton Hill
Clinton Hill is an historic, central Brooklyn neighborhood celebrated for diversity. Its under-the-radar vibe appeals to people looking for a place to live, not a place to party. The tree-lined streets are wide with lots of sky, and magnificent mansions remain from when it was an enclave for the super-rich in the mid-nineteenth century. The rest of the architecture is a mix of wood-frame houses predating the Civil War, carriage houses, brownstones, midrise apartment buildings, brick rowhouses and an occasional new development. The local university, Pratt Institute, keeps a steady stream of young creatives flowing into the area, and they mix nicely with the more laid-back, stroller-pushing crowd. This laid-back neighborhood deserves its amiable reputation. Hot Spots include: Pratt’s Sculpture Garden, Aita, Locanda Vini e Olii, Il Porto Ristorante and The Brooklyn Navy Yard.
