Colloquially known as Bed-Stuy, Bedford-Stuyvesant is brownstone community with a rich history. It has been home to innumerable artists and performers including Jay Z, Lena Horne, Biggie Smalls, and Norah Jones to name a few. The tenor of the neighborhood has changed in the last decade. Its tree-lined streets, classic brownstones, and numerous landmarked districts have made it a favorite amid Brooklyn's ongoing resurgence. Families who have been there for generations share the streets with newcomers. New restaurants, bars and cadre of other locally owned businesses are cropping up on its streets. Bed-Stuy continues to remain culturally rich and popular with artists, designers, and other members of the creative set. Hot spots include: Trad Room, L’Antgoniste, Saraghina, Fancy Nancy, Peaches, Baron’s, Chez Oskar, Grandchamps and Chilos.
